meet the designer

Janice is a Vancouver based designer, whose perspective on interiors began with her love for antiques and decorative arts. In her earlier years, she frequented auction houses for art work, furniture and decorative objects for her shop, La Contessa Antiques, as well as further complimenting the homes of her clients. Having found a passion for interior design, Janice moved to London, England and completed her MA in Design Studies at Central St. Martins Art School.

She began working with world renowned interior designer Kelly Hoppen, at her London design firm post-graduation, assisting Kelly with her high-end clientele.  As great exceptions were required, Janice applied and expanded her knowledge of interior and design, which resulted in her designing on a global scale – completing projects all throughout Europe & Asia.

After years of working in London, Janice returned home to Canada, where she joined Restoration Hardware in Toronto at their flagship location as a Lead Designer. She designed and lead many of their largest design projects, along with facilitating these full-scale installs, in Denmark, Pakistan and Turk & Caicos.

Wanting to give more personalized attention to her life and clients, Janice moved back to the beautiful West Coast of British Columbia to breathe life into Studio Chesa. Unfazed by trends, Janice and her team will create unique timeless designs that reflects the personalities of her clients and compliments the space and brief she is given.
